Sunshine Day

We saw Little Miss Sunshine last night. Why is it so rare to find a film where the funny bits are set up far in advance, and yet they’re unpredictable and make me laugh so hard I cry?

My favorite movies always win the screenplay awards. That’s my only Oscar prediction this year.

I have been dying to see this!! Every time I find a theater showing it, it’s been dubbed! :(

o! do NOT go see it dubbed. i first saw it on an airplane and it was obviously edited of expletives… which are funny. so, i kind of was let down.

I loved it too… but what I really want to know is — how were you able to get away for a movie?! Elisabeth was 6 months old the first time we were able to get to a movie (and I’ll never forget which one: Ghostbusters!!).

Definitely don’t see it dubbed, if only because you’ll lose the whole gyst of Alan Arkin’s performance, which is brilliant. It should be out on video soon, I imagine.

We’ve been lucky enough to have my mother in town for the past few weeks, so we’ve been out to dinner and seen two movies, and I got to go to my book group meeting sans carseat. Mom leaves tomorrow, so our movie-going days are over for a while! Fortunately, a couple other sets of grandparents plan to visit this spring and summer.

I’m in the minority in that I didn’t love LMS. I thought parts were really good, but then at times it veered into silly. Not that silly’s always bad…

    Alan Arkin was great though.
